ornerieI am major bummed
so one of my top five all time musical pieces is Handels Messiah. the WHOLE THING (no crappy excerpts for me, man). I am singing myself hoarse every day as I drive too and from work, singing along to the tape. I have the score, and am pitifully trying to pick it out on the piano. I blast it loud as I can stand when I bake christmas cookies or do cards or decorate or do other holiday stuff
I cant find this years Seattle Sings Messiah! I dont know if they arent doing it this year, or what (I've sent of an email...we'll see if anyone gets back to me). HUNDREDS of fellow enthusiasts pack into the most inspriational concert spaces in town and belt out one of the arguably most inspiring pieces of music ever written. Its not about how well you sing, its not even about if you sing at all. its about the music. and when you have THAT many voices in one place, the effect is like nothing else.
Last time I got to go, I signed up for workshops for months before. I got to work with the conductor who taught us about appropriate baroque ornamentation, and worked us throught the ENTIRE PIECE.
I wanna do that again!! but it may not be. which makes me very very sad. well, maybe they'll get back to me and tell me that they just havent updated a website? maybe?
