Mar. 5th, 2008 01:43 pm1. have figured out the hat pattern I'm working on. hah! take that, cables!
lookie! pretty!

the yarn is my favoritist Malabrigo...a kettle dyed super soft and squishy merino wool from some small family run business in south america. sheep with names. that kind of thing :) (and the yarn? got it as a gift in a yarn swap. score!!! thanks Alice!!)
2. had my review. I feel very loved and valued. enough to pay for a new roof valued. or, if the roof dude says I dont need a new roof, enough to pay a landscaper to help me with my front yard. also, interestingly, apparently there is a potential career path I didnt know about. I will be making an appt with The Boss to talk about that, and how best to tackle it.
its interesting...in the corporate world, its about self promotion and self developement. you're expected to think of such things, and work accordingly. the way I was raised, and my own ethic says you do what is right because its right. reward comes in the form of knowing that you did it right. sometimes (but not always) other kinds of reward come along and thats lovely but its not healthy to use those extrinsic motivators as your primary drivers. our baser natures tend towards that, and the pure spirit is the one that can rise above it.
anyway, long story short, I am in the position where I need to declair an ambition and actually persue it with purpose. this goes against my basic programming. I got some interesting squabbling going on inside me right now.
3. Kay the Wunder PT has identified my back/shoulder thing as thorasic outlet syndrome. this sounds scarier than it is, thankfully :). apparently I wasnt imagining my right hand feeling colder than my left. but now that we know what it is, we can fix it. yay!! get this...she suggests a nursing pillow for doing hand work. I'll be doing some online shopping, me thinks...
4. its spring, so its time to start thinking about the house. I declair this year "YEAR OF THE HOUSE"!! the roof got pretty ruffled this winter, and there's something up with the gutters. Need to get the back bedroom dealt with before I go to france (moving furniture about, cleaning the carpet). Need to decide what to do about the flooring back there too (I think carpet rather than refinishing the hardwoods...carpet would be a day turnaround, floors I'd have to vacate for a week with the cats. who cant be in the same room together. whee. or I oculd board one cat and take the other to the hotel...or or or.....)
the big thing is the yard. it has totally gotten out of hand and well beyond the scope of what I can deal with. so, either I let it turn into a jungle (to the dismay of my neighbors, and myself) or I get professional help...I must admit some yard envy of
daedins pretty yard...not to mention her gutters!
ah, the joys of homeownership :). but then i wouldnt have it any other way :)
this weekend, its the blackpowder show with its shopping, hudson bay boys and a club that's wackier than mine, combined with the potential of riding a horse on Sunday :). whee!
