my life right now is a collection of random loose ends that are coming together. singlely, not so spectacular. but as a sum of a whole? friggin awesome :)

work is great right now. we are interviewing for an intern, and my boss is trusting me to just do it. this is huge for him, little mister micromanager that he is. he is also talking to me about the interdepartmental politics and jockeying. talking to me as an equal. I've never been so close to this stuff before. Ironically, I feel very confident about it (SCA politics was a good training ground). I've even asked if there's a way I can help us build consensus across sites. I'm GOOD at building consensus, but the snobbish culture tha is my workplace says that becuase I dont have a PhD I must be a yahoo. oh well. their loss.

its mostly frustrating because people at hte home office ar etaking MY data and drawing these wacky conclusions. because they're in the same building as the decision makers, they have alot more power to influence the direction a project goes. and they do, with MY data going in directions that arent right, or else with their own half baked data. lets just say protein scientists? should stick to proteins and leave the immunology to us immunologists. bah. at least half of every presentaiton is spent with me explaining why MY results are diffrent from THEIR results. bah again.

that said, I'm working on fun stuff and really enjoying it :). I really dig the fact that my job? is EXACTLY what I went to college for. how many people can say that?.lots of long days, but I'm ok with that. I really do love my job :).

Circe is doing SUPER! she's down to one feeding a day, and about half the meds. she's eating on her own and they're talking about pulling the feeding tube in a week or two. I'm a bit nervous what that means for me going to NYC in May...if she decides to go on a hunger strike again.... ack. Have made arrangements for her to boarded at the vets so that if she DOES decide not eat they can deal with it. she's still pretty weak, and its highly amusing watching her try to navigate her favorite napping spot on the back of the sofa...she's pretty wobbly but obviously so blissfully happy to be there :). So far Archie is being really kind to her. Lets hope that stays the case! next step is to see about getting the carpet back there cleaned. ugh.

looking forward to my mini vacation to NYC.... need to find the perfect outfit to wear still. [livejournal.com profile] annisa_1380 has promised that she'd take me shopping :). what kind of outfit says "I'm from Seattle, and we have a soggy chic all our own"? I mean, other than goretex?

also anxiously looking forward to doing some yard work, maybe on sunday. Friday would have been perfect but I ended up running errands until dark. oof. oh well. its a jungle, but its a preally pretty jungle :). the pear trees are in bloom and the cherry trees are almost. I have a bumper crop of bluebells and tinhy little grape hyacinths, too :). cant wait for the lilacs :).

lastly, I've been watching a John Cusak marathon thanks to netflix. saw "being John Malkovich" last night.... egads! I mean, he's my movie star boyfriend and all, but ew! still, he was brilliant (as usual) and played a character who's not himself (see? depth! take that Keanu Reeves...).

today is helping [Bad username or site: irish prince @ livejournal.com] move to his new digs. I think I'll walk to the old place rather than drive (he assures me they dont need my car). I'm going to miss having him as a neighbor... and then after is [livejournal.com profile] alessandra_dms birthday dinner. sushi (big suprise there, NOT ;))

currently working on: a new pair of socks. toe up of course :). trying to do a turned heel flap rather than short rows, just for grins. need to have [livejournal.com profile] secretsquire check my math. they're stripey :).

yep, its pretty exciting around here....woohoo...... ;)
