(no subject)

the swing dance club friday night was uber fun :). when a friend asked me how it went I laughed and said "no one got hurt!" which sounds glib but actually, in my case is a real triumph :)

it was very gratifying when someone would ask me to dance and I'd feel like a clod, I could go back, sit down and watch the next girl (who knew what she was doing) having the same issue. woot! it wasnt me!! is that petty? my instructors wife leaned over and noted the pained expression on the new partners face...

I told all my partners (other than the ones who had taken the class with me :)) that i was new at this and only ONE asked me "really? that's awesome! what do you know how to do?" that was REALLY fun. I told him I knew "a bunch of turns" and he put me through them. asking "do you know this one? yes? ok, what about this one? no? well, you do now!" he also geave me a tip on how to push back on a spin so that I dont get clocked in the head. good to know ;).

the last time I went dancing was at a bar. the scene there was very different. the swing club is just about dancing. tehre's no bar, no food. just music and people dancing. its the most ANTI pickup place I"ve ever been, and thats really really nice.

Sat I made 5 different batches of cookies 8D and gattagrigia stopped by for a chat and then Sat night went to dinner with a crowd (mmmm...japanese food....) and saw Narnia. LOVED IT! its amazing. they cut stuff out, of course they did. but everything they cut out I agreed with. they were VERY true to the elements of the story that resonated for me, anyway. and it wasnt any more christian patina than the books. (I was a bit worried about that). Tilly as the white witch was AWESOME!!! and her costuming was fantastic!!! its funny, she doesnt look liek what I envisioned her from my reading, but actually looked MORE like the white witch than what I had in my head :). It will be interesting to see how they do if they do any more of them....they did a really good job of setting up the world for sequal movies, but without leaving you hanging yay :).

today is horsie day! hooray!!!! J/A are picking me up in about an hour, we'll grab brunch with a friend who needs to get out more :) and then head north. there's a dense deep fog...it will be interesting to see if it burns off or not. Rumor has it I may get to ride Keena, the grand prix dressage horse again (hee hee!) or else the sweet little mustang GiGi which is all good by me :). after that we may swing down and try to hit the sca horse practice on the way home. I had originally asked to rent a horse but after discussion the seattle contingency agreed that we'd rather spend the time and money working on equitation than sitting around waiting for our turn at the Rings, etc. we can help out with grounds crew, etc and community building and blah blah blah ;). actually it will be nice to see folks again.... I am excited that my new fleece lined breeches are here and my butt wont get numb from cold. woot!!!! theyre not as flattering as my regular ones, but oh well. FLEECE LINED, PEOPLE!!!!!!

Monday is my dentist appt. (sending a mental note to NOT FORGET!), and Monday night is dinner with mmcnealy. yay!!!

all in all a very well balanced weekend, I think. some social stuff, some physical stuff, some homebody stuff. yay me :).
